Claiming tax credits for qualifying donations

Donations to registered New Zealand charitable organisations are tax deductible (donations must be $5 or more). To claim this tax rebate, you will need to give IRD a tax donation receipt.

Grace Church Rotorua will supply this receipt annually after the end of the tax year (31 March).

General and designated offerings

Most offerings are for the general fund of the church. Offerings can be designated (tagged) for specific purposes: these are usually particular projects that the church is involved in or purposes it is supporting.

For donations to qualify for a tax credit, they must be given on an unconditional basis. The donor cannot stipulate how the money is to be used and is not entitled to anything in return.

Can I set up a re-occuring donation to Grace Church Rotorua?
